Church Of Scotland Parish of Kilmonivaig

Although sharing a minister with Duncansburgh (Fort William) and Kilmallie (Caol and Corpach), the church at Kilmonivaig has a weekly service at 9.30am each Sunday.

Roman Catholic Parish of Roy Bridge

Tracing its roots back to St. Cairell, an Irish 7th Century monk from Iona, this large rural parish has three places of worship including Cille Choirill, a 15th Century chapel in a magnificent Highland setting.

One of the hubs of the community, with 103 pupils across P1-7 and 18 in the Nursery.

Sports and Outdoor Activity Clubs

 

Spean Bridge Golf Club, Spean Bridge

Members and visitors alike enjoy this short but challenging 9 hole course and the relaxed atmosphere in the club house.

New members are always welcome, and beginners are encouraged.

Lochaber Camanachd Club, Spean Bridge

Two senior, three youth and two ladies’ teams demonstrate the popularity of shinty in our area, with residents and visitors swelling the match day crowds.

A clubhouse extension is currently planned.

Lochaber Scouts, Spean Bridge

6th Lochaber (The Braes) Scout Group meets at West Tirindrish in Spean Bridge, with active Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers to cater for all age groups. The Inshes Scout Camp in Glen Spean is popular with visiting scout groups from all over Scotland.

Village and Meeting Halls

 Spean Bridge Community Centre

Purpose-built in 1980 and recently upgraded, the community centre’s facilities for event bookings include a main hall, committee room, kitchen and WC’s. There is a recycling bank and a small children’s playground adjoining open green space and a short riverside walk.

The volunteer Fire Station is housed in detached garaging nearby with a wall-mounted defibrillator.

Roy Bridge Memorial Hall

Dating from 1869 and at one time the drill hall for the Lovat Scouts, the memorial hall now offers two rooms, a kitchen and WC’s. An electric vehicle charging point and recycling facilities are opposite, and there is a wall-mounted defibrillator. Nearby is an excellent children’s playground, beside the mothballed Roy Bridge Primary School.

Achnacarry Village Hall

A meeting hall in a picturesque setting on the Achnacarry Estate, available for local bookings only. There is a main hall with kitchen off and WC’s.

Kilmonivaig Church Hall, near Spean Bridge

Owned by the Kirk Session of adjoining Kilmonivaig Church, this recently refurbished hall with kitchen and WC’s offers updated meeting and function facilities for smaller gatherings in a rural setting with fine views.
